The mission of MCA is to seek the pleasure of Allah (GOD) through establishment of the Islamic system of life as spelled out in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). MCA is an association of Muslim individuals that provides a common platform for presenting Islam as taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), supporting Muslim communities, developing educational, social and outreach programs and fostering good relations with the South Florida Muslims and society at large.
In 1973, a few local Muslims used a room in their apartment as a mosque and started offering the Friday prayers, Isha and Dohar prayers (Sundays). Since then, those Muslims have conducted Friday prayer regularly. They collected money from local Muslims and in 1975 purchased a house near Flagler Street, turning it into a permanent mosque. Today, this historic mosque is called the Masjid Miami.
After three years of growth, the Muslim community bought a small church at 4305 NW 183 Street in Miami Gardens. In 1991, construction of a new building started. The current building was finished in 1997.
These mosques are open to every Muslim no matter what Islamic legal school they follow. Our non Muslim friends including media and local and state officials are always welcome. The Muslim community is nationally diverse. Almost every Muslim country is represented at our center. Participants come from different backgrounds from all over the world. We also have a large local Muslim population including Hispanics represented at our center.
The mosque officers do not promote any school of thought, but only request that members follow the Holy Qur’an and the Sunna (sayings and deeds) of the prophet Muhammad. They believe that all mosques are houses of Allah/God and should be a place of peace and comfort for everyone.
